Community involvement is a word that often describes the TwinCities area and Bloomington. In September 2008, we hosted delegates, media, and guests from all over the country and world for The Republican National Convention. The success of this historic event relied heavily on the help of local Minnesotans to fill in. With more than 45,000 delegates, media and visitors arriving from around the country, all eyes were on our cities. We welcomed them in true Minnesota fashion, with a “you betcha ya” attitude. The Host Committee worked hard to recruit more than 10,000 volunteers to help with this once-in-lifetime event. We can help you tap into our volunteer database of names and emails ready to go if you select us as the host city.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Welcoming athletes at airports and hotels
  • Assisting with transportation logistics
  • Working with security teams
  • Supporting operations at your venues
