The Bloomington Convention & Visitors Bureau (BCVB) is looking for an experienced Sales professional to join our team. This position will focus primarily in the Corporate and National Association markets, identifying new business that is potentially good for Bloomington and our hotels. The Bloomington CVB is the official marketing organization for the City of Bloomington and promotes Bloomington to visitors around the world.

Bloomington MN is located adjacent to both Minneapolis, & Saint Paul, and is at the doorstep of the International Airport. It is home to the famous Mall of America, the largest shopping and entertainment complex in the U.S. and is a popular destination for leisure travelers, meetings, and conventions.

Bloomington is known as the city of hospitality and the Hospitality industry is Bloomington’s largest industry.


  • Ability to perform all general sales activities to include but not limited to; maintaining files and client communication, prepare monthly activity reports for the VP, and attend meetings both internally and externally. Utilize our CRM system relative to your market segment to coordinate databases for digital marketing.
  • Work closely with the marketing department on bid presentations and perform all necessary follow up related to the actual bid.
  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for key industry partnerships such as Maritz Global Travel, Conference Direct, Helms Briscoe, and other 3rd party partners as assigned.
  • Develop and qualify specific leads for new business and distribute those leads to appropriate hotels and venues. Follow up with leads as needed to help convert to team goal.
  • Coordinate client visits (FAM Trips) as needed, providing onsite inspections, highlighting Bloomington hotels, metro venues and facilities.
  • Execute sales missions to targeted market areas as laid out in our annual Marketing Plan or as directed by the VP of Strategy and Sales.
  • Attend corporate and association trade shows as established in our annual marketing plan and perform follow-up with all interested prospects including lead generation.
  • Assist our hotels and organizations in bid presentations, and other hospitality components to help bring group business to Bloomington.
  • Participate in business-related activities with associations nationally and locally, such as MPI, ASAE, HB, Conference Direct, Maritz Global, HPN, CWT, and Associations North, maintaining a visible presence within the industry.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as needed for the CVB to achieve its annual marketing goals.
  • Explore new business segments for opportunities such as Business Transient market.

Have a good personal and professional appearance, with strong communication skills, and the ability to multi-task and be a team player.

Must have good presentation skills, and knowledge of using CRM web technology such as Simpleview, and CVENT platforms, and experience in the corporate and association markets.

4-year college degree, or equivalent, 10 + years’ experience and Hospitality and or Hotel Sales Experience, Industry designations and education also are a plus. This position requires business travel as needed. Salary based on experience.
