Afton State Park in Minnesota invites nature-lovers to enjoy year-round outdoor recreation in a natural setting. Located on a glacial moraine and accentuated by deep ravines, the Afton State Park offers striking views of the nearby St. Croix River. Afton Park in MN also features restored prairies, bluffs, forests and wildflowers, all within easy reach of Bloomington and the Twin Cities.

Recreational highlights of Afton State Park include hiking trails (20 miles in all), horseback riding trails, paved bike trails, picnic shelters and a swimming beach. In winter, park visitors may enjoy a four-mile snowshoe trail and 18 miles of cross-country skiing trails. Birders visiting Afton State Park may spot a variety of birds, including raptors passing over the St. Croix flyway.

Although RV camping is not available at Afton State Park, the 1,695-acre park is home to 24 primitive campsites for backpackers, one canoe campsite and two group campsites. Electricity and showers are not available.
