The Shape of Time

Joseph Beuys, Dan Flavin, and Donald Judd new exhibition from the Walker’s collection provides “a snapshot of a vital moment in postwar cultural production,” says assistant curator Yasmil Raymond, and allows viewers to trace the influence of their ideas in contemporary art. “With this exhibition, visitors will see three different ‘statements’ that reflect distinct positions towards art-making and the ways in which these artists addressed the autonomy of art, its nature, and its social power.”

Whiz Bang Days

Upon return as a World War I Doughboy Captain Billy Fawcett started a publication in Robbinsdale called Captain Billy's Whiz Bang, which was the first publication of Fawcett Publications. It was a magazine that was similar to National Lampoon. Subscriptions were sold to WWI Doughboys to help keep them in touch and let people know about the war.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition has been designed with a focus on the legendary RMS Titanic's compelling human stories as best told through hundreds of authentic artifacts and extensive room re-creations. Perfume from a maker who was traveling to New York to sell his samples, china etched with the logo of the elite White Star Line, even a 3,000 pound portion of Titanic's hull—these and many other authentic objects offer haunting, emotional connections to lives abruptly ended or forever altered.

Blooming Butterflies

Blooming Butterflies is a seasonal, free-standing butterfly exhibit resembling a caterpillar. The Gothic arch style screened structure will encompass approximately 3,000 square feet of enclosed butterfly ‘garden’ space showcasing a colorful variety of tropical annual and perennial flowering nectar plants to sustain hundreds of butterflies. The interdependency of butterflies and plants will be illustrated through the easily observed feeding behavior of butterflies in which the plant gains a ‘pollination partner’.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat

This colorful, upbeat retelling of the biblical story about Joseph, his uncanny abilities to interpret dreams and his designer coat, sings out to young and old alike.
