Stopped for lunch with my daughter. We ordered; roasted duck curry (mild), Tom yum ( level 3 spice) and for dessert- mango sticky rice. Food was delish, service was top notch. Just the right amount of spice for each of us. We will be back!
Friends invited us to join them for lunch at Sawatdee in Burnsville, MN. Sawatdee is a local chain that started in St. Paul, MN and has grown to four location and a food truck do to their popularity. The atmosphere was bland at that time of day. The space was well lit because of the large windows across the entire front of the building. The menu was typical of Thai restaurants except for an unusually diverse selection of seafood dishes. I will keep that in mind for future visits. We all opted for the lunch buffet, which had sparse but flavorful selections. It would have helped a little if the offerings were labeled, however, it was pretty easy to see all the ingredients. The flavor of the food was quite good for a buffet, where things can tend to get overcooked. I’ve been to the St. Paul restaurant a few times for dinner and can say that they are typically at the better side of average. Although we had the buffet, the manager was very helpful and made our outing more pleasant. I rated the food a 4 out-of-five because it was a buffet presentation. However, I am sure that the dishes would taste much better if selected from the menu and cooked to order. I will definitely return to try some of the seafood dishes.
When we came I was a little nervous because we were the only customers. I try not to judge by how empty a spot is but they looked like they had been empty for several hours. Anyways, the food was actually really good. I initially came because I saw in their menu they had Pad Sew Yew. But their cream cheese wontons stole the show. Probably some of the best I’ve had in the twin cities! Since then I have ordered a few times to go and have ordered the same two things. Always good and packaged really well. I love this spot!
Enjoyed the family restaurant style with a fun and friendly staff.
Started off with curry puffs which were unbelievable. Would highly recommend as they are crunchy and when dipped in sweet and sour, hit all spots.
Ordered pad Thai and for an MN fella 2 was plenty of spice. It was delicious! Also had duck curry which was melt in your mouth good. The silky coconut milk combined with perfectly cooked rice and veggies was just right!
Spicy noodles with chicken, perfect dish for a 30° Saturday night out dinner. Back for Chicken Pad Thai.
As a Thai myself, I’d had given 5-star if the food taste is on point. The salad is too sour than they should be. Pad thai is a little too sweet other that the overall is good. Nice restaurant and great service.
