Kura Sushi
Not what I was thinking when I was searching for places to eat dinner at Mall of America, but when but when I saw revolving place my curiosity sparked.
The process here is very simple. Each play cost $4. There are also other options you can order from an on-screen menu that are a bit of a higher price such as udon or ramen. All the plates get delivered to you via conveyor belt or a cute robot.
Such a healthy alternative to eating dinner. The udon was fantastic. The ramen was super tasty. And the Crunchyroll sushi were fantastic! We even order ice cream and frozen mochi.
You can portion out your meals. And if you’re hungry for more, just pull out a plate from the conveyor belt. There’s a nice screen that provides you details of what you’ve ordered thus far Which is nice because the plates do add up. Kids had a blast watching the food being prepared from the sea through windows that show the inner workings in the kitchen.
Big kudos for Tyler who explained to me the process and really motivated me to try it out. Also big shout-out to Joey who is our server at the time for his assistance during our visit. These two are great representatives for the restaurant.
Highly recommend trying this place out. I do recommended reservations which can be easily made at the kiosk in front of the restaurant. I will return. I’m a now a big fan.
Right off the bat, one of the coolest parts of the experience was the drink service—a robot delivered our soft drinks! It was a fun and unique touch that added to the modern, high-tech feel of the place.
The food selection was impressive, with plenty of options to choose from. It took a little time to work up the courage to try some of the more adventurous choices, but everything I had was fresh and delicious. The conveyor belt setup made it easy to grab what looked good, and I liked the mix of classic and more unique sushi offerings.
One downside for me was the drink menu. While I understand the appeal of keeping things simple, the choices felt a bit limited. Having to pick between Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper while eating sushi just felt like a strange flavor pairing. Some more traditional drink options—like Japanese teas or flavored sparkling water—would have been a great addition.
Overall, it was a great lunch, and I’ll definitely be coming back. The experience was fun, the sushi was solid, and the robot server was a cool surprise. If you’re in the Mall of America and looking for a unique sushi spot, Kura is definitely worth checking out!
It seemed like a lot of the sushi was not avaliable when we went, possibly because it was later in the night. But other than that, it was a good and a fun experience.
