It’s a great sushi place. It’s very cheap for the quality. The location is in the Mall of America, on the third floor, by the food court. The service was great; we only had to wait 10 minutes to get seated. There is a wide variety of sushi, sashimi, and other delicious food. I had about 15 plates. They are small portions, but you can try as many as you want because they don’t run out. You must try the location. See pictures.
We went in July of 2023 and thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. The tonkatsu pork ramen and beef udon were excellent. We also sampled a variety of tasty sushi from the conveyor belt sysytem, and also ordered the caterpillar roll which was awesome. We are so glad that we managed to save room for the Taiyaki ice cream which was amazing. The food delivery robots added to the atmosphere. We will definitely be back again. If you like sushi and other Japanese food, this is a great place to sample a variety of tasty treats.
Ate at this sushi restaurant for lunch during a trip to The Mall of America. It is located on the second floor of the mall. I will say that each dish we retrieved from the conveyor belt was great. They had an excellent variety and they never ran out of anything that was on the menu during my visit. I was able to try a few dishes I had not been able to try elsewhere too so it is great for that. Each plate is about $5 and once you have eaten, you slide the plate into a collector which counts the number of plates and charges you at the end of the visit. Pretty simple and straightforward although I did need guidance during my first visit. There was a short wait before we were seated but it was 5-10 minutes at most.
Why did I deduct 2 stars? The service was absolutely horrible. Once we were seated, it took 10 minutes to get our drinks. It took another 10 minutes for somebody to visit us and explain how the conveyor and charges work. Finally, as we are ready to pay and leave, it took 15 minutes for somebody to explain what we needed to do then. This would have easily been a 5 star review if the service was better but alas it was not.
The food is great, and the atmosphere is really fun! We almost didn’t go because of so many of the negative reviews, but my only conclusion after having eaten here is people are nuts. We can’t wait to go again!
It was pretty good. Food quality was high the service was good fast and friendly. I would have like the table to be wiped down a bit more and the floor to be a bit cleaner but overall it was pretty good.
I dinned in today, love the food there. Various plates to choose. Ahmed was my server, he was so nice and helpful. Even it was very busy, but he tried to get what I need asap. This is my 5th time here. And found out this time service was the best.
The staff at Kura in MOA, especially Ahmed, consistently provide excellent service, ensuring our family’s needs are met with care and attention. This exceptional service, along with the great food and overall experience, is why we always choose to dine here. Our kids absolutely love it!
Right off the bat, one of the coolest parts of the experience was the drink service—a robot delivered our soft drinks! It was a fun and unique touch that added to the modern, high-tech feel of the place.
The food selection was impressive, with plenty of options to choose from. It took a little time to work up the courage to try some of the more adventurous choices, but everything I had was fresh and delicious. The conveyor belt setup made it easy to grab what looked good, and I liked the mix of classic and more unique sushi offerings.
One downside for me was the drink menu. While I understand the appeal of keeping things simple, the choices felt a bit limited. Having to pick between Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper while eating sushi just felt like a strange flavor pairing. Some more traditional drink options—like Japanese teas or flavored sparkling water—would have been a great addition.
Overall, it was a great lunch, and I’ll definitely be coming back. The experience was fun, the sushi was solid, and the robot server was a cool surprise. If you’re in the Mall of America and looking for a unique sushi spot, Kura is definitely worth checking out!
