Best Western Bloomington Edina – Minneapolis

Pretty good stay overall. Would recommend for a good budget hotel.

Pros:
– Pool was warm, not cold like most hotels. Made swimming way more enjoyable.
– Breakfast was average, on par with similarly priced hotels.
– Rooms were clean, water was hot.
– Staff were accommodating when needed.

Cons:
– Hot tub was barely warmer than the pool.
– Breakfast items/coffee sometimes took a little while to get refilled.
– Room smelled like lemongrass, which normally wouldn’t be a bad thing, but the smell was so strong it was like an entire bottle got dumped out.

Overall was a good stay for the price.

Pros: The room was very clean.
Cons: First impressions are everything. The front desk person was extremely rude. I’m not sure she should be the first interaction. There was a homeless couple in the lobby with all their belongings. I don’t know the circumstances of why they were there, but again first impressions are everything. It made you question the safety of the area. There is a large car dealership across from it so security for that may help. The lobby had a weird fishy/urine smell. It did not seem they were very prepared to provide enough food for # of guests. There was a sign that said “Breakfast is complimentary. Be mindful of your portions” Milk was a jug, not cartons. So lots of hands taking the cap off. The safety latch on our door was so loose it was about to fall off. I tightened the screws myself. We were only there two nights. If we had been in town longer I would have looked for a different hotel .

Good location. Offered good value. It smelled in the area close to the elevator. It was okay in the morning but eventually got worse. I think they are trying to address it by having some purifier device close to it but something is causing the odor to re-appear. Didn’t use the pool area as our eyes burnt from strong chlorine as soon as we opened the door. Room itself was clean and sufficient, even had a microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker. Bed was kind of hard but was able to fall asleep easily. Ice maker worked fine in the floor. Very decent continental breakfast. While I expected a bit more from a Best Western for overall cleanliness, it sure provided value for the price paid.

If you want a 4 star hotel, but without all the snobiness, and you want the ability to go to your car easily anytime you want, this is the place for you. Clean and comfortable rooms, great breakfast, nice pool area. Day staff is excellent. Night staff is acceptable. Location can’t be beat. Denny’s is garbage, but it’s attached to the hotel if you really need a midnight cheeseburger. A lot of bang for the buck, and the area is safe.

A total nightmare just to get an invoice.

I emailed them my company details right after my stay, asking for an invoice. After over a week of silence, they suddenly claimed they had “already sent it” — which was simply not true.

When I finally got the invoice, the company name was wrong, the amount was incorrect, and it was clear they didn’t even bother to copy the info properly. I asked for a corrected version — just with the right name and the actual amount I paid by card.

Since then? Total confusion, nonsense questions, and still no proper invoice. It’s been multiple emails, over a week and a half, and they still can’t manage to send a single correct document.

This is beyond frustrating and totally unprofessional. Avoid if you need anything official after your stay.

Update: after this review, I got the correct invoice.
