The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum will be illuminated after dark this winter by a large-scale light installation. Artist Bruce Munro has created five outdoor and two indoor art installations made from thousands of radiant lights. Enjoy a self-guided tour while you explore the beautiful lights, sounds, and colors of Winter Light at the Arboretum. The exhibit will be open weekends from mid-November to early April. The Saint Paul Winter Carnival celebrates all things winter in downtown Saint Paul's Rice Park. Ice carving competitions, three parades, children's activities, and more will take place January 26-February 5, culminating with the 8th Annual Beer Dabbler celebration.

The City of Lakes Loppet Ski Festival in Minneapolis is a winter sports lover's dream come true, with competitions including everything from speed skating to skijoring, in which skiers are pulled across ice by dogs. Not an athlete? No problem - take a casual stroll around Lake of the Isles during the Luminary Loppet and enjoy cocoa, treats, and live music.

Red Bull Crashed Ice has become an annual fixture on the calendar and will be coming February 3-4 to St. Paul. Watch two hundred of the toughest, fastest ice cross downhill racers go head-to-head through a downhill course full of mind-and-body-bending jumps, turns and slides – all against the backdrop of the historic Cathedral of Saint Paul with thousands of spectators bearing witness. This event will be the season finale, so it promises to be a fierce competition.
