La Quinta by Wyndham Minneapolis Bloomington West

Toilet ran for 2 days but everything else was good. The room was worn out but very clean. Had a great refrigerator. View out the balcony window was good to keep an eye on your car. It’s in a safe place and we seen the police patrolling the lot a few times. It’s one of the nicer low budget hotels in the area. It has a nice breakfast. The hot tub is not working.

What we liked
• Great value for money. We weren’t expecting a five-star experience at this price, but the hotel pleasantly surprised us: the room felt fresh and tidy, no bad smells or excess noise.
• Clean and well-kept. Bedding and towels were spotless; everything looked cared for.
• All the basics covered. For a quick family stay we had everything we needed: working A/C, mini-fridge, microwave, hair-dryer, iron, decent pillows, etc. We really just needed a place to sleep, and this setup was perfect.
• Convenient location. Easy to reach all our planned activities around the city, with supermarkets and breakfast cafés close by.

What to know
• Tiny pool. For such a big hotel the pool downstairs is surprisingly small. It wasn’t a deal-breaker for us (we spent our days out and about), but water-lovers might be disappointed.
• Old-school door lock. It works, but we had to fiddle with it the first evening. By day two we’d figured it out and had no further issues.

Bottom line
If you need a clean, budget-friendly room to crash in while you explore the city with kids all day, this place is spot-on. Price and quality match perfectly, and the minor downsides are easy to overlook thanks to the overall neatness and handy location. Recommended for short family trips and active travelers.

Room was very big but smelled like dog urine (room 1008). There are two refrigerators but one was turned all the way up and froze what we put in there, luckily it was just water. The loveseat was really gross looking and I put a sheet over it before sitting on it.

They were good with replacing towels and cleaning the room and restocking toiletries. Dove toiletries, which I did like.

Hallways and elevators definitely need repair.

There are ice machines on about every other floor, but floor 10, 8, 6 we’re all out of order and I finally found a working one on level 2.

Actual vending machines would be really nice instead of having to go to the lobby to their limited supply.

Breakfast was pretty decent. The waffles were really good. I wish they would keep the butter out of the fridge though because it was hard.

Always excellent service and hotel. First time using guest wash/dryer. $3 each. Both worked great. Have stayed here several times, everything has been great always. Breakfast also good.

Better than I expected a lot of people hanging around the outside but rooms were clean no bed bugs no roaches so I was happy. Pool was occupied by adults with liquor and music so I didn’t feel comfortable allowing my kids down there but overall ok. I don’t think I’ll come back because my kids wanted to swim but it was wayyyy too much going on down there

Positive: The free continental breakfast. The workers did very well keeping it clean and making sure the food trays are filled up. They did a great job! Negative: Noises through the doors can be heard easily. It was a challenge keeping the kids quiet at night.
