Step up and run or walk at the Team Hope Walk | 5K. The event will be held on Saturday, June 6th, 2015 from 8 - 11AM at Mount Normandale Lake Park in Bloomington, MN. This event supports the fight against Huntington's disease (HD)! Runners of all endurance levels will enjoy darting through the certified 5K course, which will be timed for all 5k participants. The tag timing system will be used to determine finishing time/order with prizes available for category winners. Walkers will enjoy the scenic course, light exercise, and comradery. All will have the opportunity to improve the lives of those touched by HD. Huntington’s disease is a rare neuro-degenerative brain disorder that robs a person of the ability to walk, talk, think, swallow, and control movement. HD symptoms are the same as the worst of those associated with other neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS, and a cure for one is likely to benefit all. Unlike other diseases, however, Huntington's disease has a known genetic location and can be positively identified and studied in people long before they become symptomatic. This gives researchers a leg up and makes Huntington’s disease an excellent candidate for research.
