The RYKA Iron Girl women’s duathlon returns to Bloomington for the third year in a row. Competitors in 15 age groups will challenge themselves with a two-mile run followed by a 22-mile bike ride and a final two-mile run during the Iron Girl Bloomington Duathlon.
 
After the race, Iron Girl competitors may enjoy a Breakfast CafÉ, a variety of giveaways, and awards for the top three finishers in each age group. Other highlights of the RYKA Iron Girl Bloomington Duathlon include RYKA shirts, race bibs personalized with competitors’ first names, and live music.

The Bloomington women’s duathlon is one of nine RYKA Iron Girl events for women scheduled in 2007. Among the cities hosting Iron Girl triathlons and women’s running events are Atlanta, Denver, Boston and Seattle. Bloomington is the only city offering an Iron Girl duathlon.

The Iron Girl series of competitive events for women was first launched in 2004.

The Iron Girl Bloomington Duathlon is a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event open to competitors age 14 and up.

USAT Members: $75
Non-members: $85

Online registration closes at 11:59 pm (PDT) on September 22, 2007. It’s best not to wait till the last minute to sign up for the Iron Girl Bloomington Duathlon, as the event was a sell-out in 2006.

The Iron Girl women’s duathlon in Bloomington will begin at Normandale Lake Park (84th and Chalet Road). The park’s bike course is sure to be a challenge with its rolling hills, climbs and turns.
