The world-renowned Minnesota Orchestra offers year-round concerts featuring a variety of musical genres, ranging from symphonic music to pops to jazz to holiday tunes. And there are few venues as regal as the Minnesota Orchestra Hall. Originally known as the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra when it was founded in 1903, the Minnesota Orchestra has enjoyed a long and impressive music career, which has included radio broadcasts, recordings and tours. Past music directors of the Minnesota Orchestra have included such well-known names as Eugene Ormandy and Sir Neville Marriner. Today, the 98 musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra fall under the direction of Osmo Vänskä.

The Minneapolis-based orchestra makes its home at the Minnesota Orchestra Hall, a building celebrated for its acoustics. Other venues for the Minnesota Orchestra include the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, its home in St. Paul, and the Basilica of St. Mary, site of the Minnesota Orchestra's annual rendition of Handel's Messiah. The Minnesota Orchestra presents almost 200 concerts every year, among them Young People's Concerts and Kinder Konzerts. Its radio broadcasts may be heard on almost 150 radio stations throughout the U.S. The Minnesota Orchestra is also known for introducing more than 175 new compositions since its founding.
