Open from early August to December, Aamodt's Apple Farm is the premier Minnesota destination for all things apple. Head to this Stillwater orchard during your stay in Bloomington and pick up a freshly baked apple pie, apple cider, pre-picked apples, apple oatmeal cookies, caramel apples and more. Guests are also invited to pick their own basket of apples and participate in one of Aamondt's popular fall events like the Grape Stomp, Honeycrisp Festival, Hot Air Balloon Festival and Apple Harvest Festival. DOWNTOWN. One of the nation's most well-preserved Victorian homes, this house was completed in 1872 and served as the residence of the first governor of Minnesota. The home features marble fireplaces, crystal chandeliers, carved walnut woodwork, and lots of original furnishings. Volunteers take on the roles of Ramsey household members and converse with visitors about life in the 1870's. Reservations are recommended for tours.

Located southwest of Bloomington, the Alexis Bailly Vineyard is a family owned and operated venture with over 30 years of winemaking experience. The Bailly family is proud to use only Minnesota-grown grapes and house their wines in Alexis Bailly's original 1978 winery, made from Minnesota limestone and white knotty pine, providing a truly regional look. Open for wine tastings year round, the Bailly Vineyard also boasts a beautiful picnic area with bocce ball courts and a lovely vine-covered patio that overlooks the vineyard.

Built at the turn of the century, the house that shelters the American Swedish Institute features wonderfully eclectic details and intriguing chateau-like architecture. Inside, ornamental plasterwork, festive tiling, and a magnificent staircase display Swedish style. The organization's goal is to preserve Swedish culture in the United States, and the institute plays host to a series of concerts, recitals, films, and lectures, along with courses and festivities all linked to Swedish history. House tours are available.

DOWNTOWN. Built almost a hundred years ago, this stately, impressive basilica serves the oldest Catholic parish in Minneapolis. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the church features entrance towers made of white Vermont granite and a copper dome that rises almost 200 feet. The sanctuary floor is made of pink Tennessee marble, and the nave is one of the widest in the world. Visitors should be respectful of masses being conducted; self-guided tour brochures can be found at the back of the sanctuary.

In addition, the museum store is rich in hard-to-find books and resources on natural history, including a great selection of children's books.

The Bloomington Art Center, a non-profit organization founded in 1976, showcases professional artwork from local and regional artists.
