Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins have brought major-league baseball action to the Twin Cities metro area for almost half a century. Formerly known as the Washington Senators, the MLB sports club was renamed the Minnesota Twins in honor of its move to Minneapolis and the Twin Cities in 1961.
In the years since then, Twins Baseball has experienced mixed results on the baseball field. Post-season play for the Minnesota Twins has included three trips to the World Series, with the American League team’s only win coming at the end of the 1987 baseball season. Although the Minnesota Twins faltered during much of the 1990s, the first decade of the 21st century has been a promising one for the ball club. In 2002, the Minnesota Twins made their first trip to the American League championship series since 1991, but failed to clinch the pennant.
Past Twins Baseball rosters have included such baseball Hall-of-Famers as Harmon Killebrew, Rod Carew and Kirby Puckett.
The Minnesota Twins have made their home at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis since 1982. The MLB professional baseball team’s new 40,000-seat ballpark, under construction since the summer of 2007, is scheduled to open in April 2010 for the Minnesota Twins’ 50th anniversary in the Midwest.
Minnesota Twins 2007 Schedule
The regular season for Minnesota Twins baseball runs from April through the end of September. The Minnesota Twins’ final home game of the 2007 season is scheduled for September 23, 2007.
